If I was on my Mac I could give you the Apple link regarding the need for Lion before upgrading, but you could Google this yourself. I agree with Harry that SL is a better OS. I was in no way suggesting that you stick with Lion. Previously, you could go from Snow Leopard upwards, but the rules have changed and you need to get Lion then upgrade. The reason I mentioned Lion is that it has now become necessary to get Lion to upgrade. Harry has drawn attention to the age of your Mac and I drew attention to the limited RAM. To use the Mac you'll need your own Apple ID and that is why I was stressing the need to start with a clean sheet. Of course, there are legal obligations too. perform the necessary system software updates to get the Mac to version 10.6.8. If your Mac is running OS X 10.6.8 or higher. 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (3 MB L2 Cache, 800Mz Buss Speed) with 4GB DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz. The window that appears prominently lists which version you have, such as OS X Mavericks Version 10.9.5. I'm hoping that PT 10 works well with my current computer. I haven't been able to use them since the release of PT 8 LE, which phased out their compatibly w/ 7.3 LE. I'll also be able to use my plug-ins again. I finally have enough money to update to PT 10! I'm really excited to try this new version.
